How long should my hair be to get a wax?
Your hair should be at least a ¼ inch long (about the length of a grain of rice), to allow the wax to grip around the hair.
Can I wax while my cycle is on?
Yes! Please insert a fresh tampon upon arrival. However, if you decide you wish to forgo your service, no refunds will be issued.
Will you be discrete and respect my privacy?
Absolutely and without question! Discretion, privacy and confidentiality is guaranteed at all times with our clients. Our facility is even discrete and private!
How long does waxing last?
Typically, 4-6 weeks. Your rate of hair growth is unique to you! The more you wax, the longer it will last.
How long will my wax take?
Usually it takes anywhere from 30-45 minutes, depending on the hair growth and the clients comfort level during the waxing. The first visit is typically longer; however, follow ups are much faster. We allow our estheticians the time to go at the clients pace, to ensure their comfort level is bearable at all times.
What is The Bare Guarantee?
The Bare Guarantee was designed to further our commitment to provide the best waxing experience to all that we service. If we failed to remove any hair during your appointment, we encourage you to come back within 24 hours after your service for a touch up.
Can I get waxed if I’m under 18?
Absolutely! There is no legal age for which a teen or child can have waxing services performed. You can start waxing at any age you like as long as you feel comfortable and are old enough to understand the process. In the event the service becomes intolerable, the esthetician will stop the service.
I'm pregnant, can I still wax?
First, congratulations! Second, yes, you can wax. However, you may experience more skin sensitivity due to the hormonal changes your body is going through. Our estheticians will make you as comfortable as possible during the service.
Can I bring someone in the appointment with me?
Yes, you can bring a friend, companion, significant other or fan!
What kind of wax do you use?
We have chosen a high quality, professional hard wax for our services. Hard wax is a stripless wax which hardens at room temperature. As it hardens, it wraps itself around the hair, not adhering to the skin.
Does waxing hurt?
The level of discomfort is specific to each person. Waxing will have some momentary discomfort, it is not long lasting. When removing the wax, you will feel a sting, then it quickly dissipates. At Bare Twelve 27, our estheticians will work with you to make sure you're as comfortable as can be. We're dedicated to giving you the best experience available. PLEASE STOP WATCHING YOUTUBE'S HORROR WAXING VIDEOS!
Will waxing make my hair grow back thicker, stronger or darker?
Absolutely not! Re-growth will be finer, thinner and slower in areas that are waxed on a regular basis. The only things known to stimulate hair growth are hormones: natural or artificial.
What to do for skin reactions?
We take every precaution to minimize or eliminate negative reactions as much as possible; however, some people may have certain reactions to waxing (acne breakout, skin rash, etc.) The following are some post care tips and recommendations on what to do/use in the event that your skin should have such reaction. Please consult your physician, dermatologist, or esthetician if you have any questions or concerns about any of these topicals we recommend before using anything.
What should I do about ingrown hair?
Regularly exfoliating is important to buff away dead skin cells and avoid clogged pores and ingrown hair. Your last exfoliation should be at least two days before the wax service. Moisturize the skin until the day before your wax to keep the area hydrated.
What if I can not bear the pain?
When you schedule an appointment, the necessary time is scheduled just for you. However, if you decide you wish to forgo your wax, no refunds will be issued. This represents a cost to us and to other clients who could have been seen in the time set aside for you.
What could prevent me from waxing?
You should not wax if you are:
All of these products listed above, thin out and weaken the skin making you more sensitive and increase your risk of skin lifting with the wax.
Is there anyway to minimize the pain involved in waxing?
Some of our clients also swear by taking an Advil or Motrin about thirty minutes prior to a wax. Also, timing is everything when it comes to any bikini are waxing, as it is more painful about 4 days before and after your period.
What are bikini waxing aftercare instructions? For 24 hours:
- No hot baths or showers (cool to lukewarm water only).
- No saunas, hot tubs or steam treatments.
- No tanning (sunbathing or sun beds).
- No sport, gym work or other exercise.
- Avoid scratching or touching the waxed area with unwashed hands.
- Do not apply deodorants, body sprays, powders, lotions or other products to the area.
3 days after your wax, begin exfoliating the area with a gentle sugar or salt scrub. 2-3 times per week is sufficient and will help to prevent ingrown hairs and help to keep the skin smooth.
Don't shave between waxes! This makes the hair more resistant to future waxing and gets the growth cycle out of whack. If you stick to waxing, subsequent waxes will be less painful and your hair will become progressively softer and less dense over time (genetics play a role as to if and how fast this will occur).
Stick to it! Schedule your wax appointment every 4 weeks (depending on how fast your hair grows) for best results.
